Jaehyuk was a bit of an anomaly as far as vampires went, if only in the sense that despite his position and some of his "extracurricular tendencies", he actually was a staunch advocate for peace between not only vampire clans, but also inter-species balance as well. He knew that tensions between humans and vampires, never mind vampires with weres or other supernatural creatures - would only continue to get worse if they kept operating the way they did.

BUT APPARENTLY SOME PEOPLE DIDN'T FUCKING LIKE THAT. And therefore he was assassinated.

However, due to one of his relationships being with that of a demon (and that demon begging the Leviathan himself), he was brought back to life as a demon himself. Nobody knew if the process would even work, but somehow it did. And because Jae's first act as a demon was to cold-cock Leviathan in the face, he was gifted the Cardinal of Wrath.

Which meant that a peacekeeper was put under a cardinal sin that was usually occupied by warmongers and bloodthirsty idiots.

He wasn't thrilled about it either. But in some cases he was able to keep his more bloodthirsty feelings in check by way of going after only those that deserved it, a sort of vigilante of sorts. He was still harassed by both Leviathan and even Amon, who he served under, but for the most part was able to carve out something for himself.

He sees the current predicament with humanity as a possible future if his original plans never came to fruition, and therefore sees it as an opportunity for atonement. Even as a monster, he still tries to keep humanity's best interests at heart. It's both a gift and a curse, much like his abilities as a(n unwilling) child of Wrath.
